Her presence and energy took away every single bit of anxiety I had because I knew that she cared about my baby and me.
I went through 5 rounds of IVF to conceive my daughter. I’ve had severe endometriosis since I was 14 years old. Had multiple surgeries for my endometriosis since I was 17. The dream of having a child always seemed unattainable and out of reach. I finally got pregnant with my daughter, and didn’t have a miscarriage as I had with my first child last year. Every step I took during my pregnancy was full of anxiety, worry, and fear. I almost lost my daughter 3 times. Making it to 37 weeks felt like a dream. I had to have a scheduled C-section due to my previous surgeries. I was absolutely terrified. From the second I walked into the labor and delivery department at this facility, Renette made my experience absolutely incredible. I have dealt with many doctors, surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists in my lifetime of chronic illness. I’m talking hundreds. Renette was the best nurse I’ve ever met. I do not mean that lightly. She was quick on her feet. Absolutely kind. Funny. Beautiful. Her presence and energy took away every single bit of anxiety I had because I knew that she cared about my baby and me. Not only was she taking phenomenal care of us, but she was also teaching another nurse. The way she was explaining things to this nurse she was teaching was with such grace and thoughtfulness. You can really tell that she cared about this nurse's education. I could go on all day about how wonderful and amazing she made my experience. The dream of having a child, I thought, was so far away. I will never forget how special Renette was. I will always remember her beauty, compassion, and intelligence; she’s an angel of a woman. If I’m ever lucky enough to have a second baby. I will be back at this hospital, and I will beg them to let Renette be my nurse again. I truly hope her hard work, dedication, empathy, and compassion are recognized. It’s nurses like her that make departments like this run smoothly. She is so amazing.
