Romina is a living example of compassion, professionalism, and nursing care that goes above and beyond. As a newly diagnosed breast cancer patient, the word “cancer” sounded almost like a death sentence. The diagnostic tests, the multiple appointments, the treatment plan, the family dynamics… everything felt overwhelming.

It was during the first “simulation” for my radiation treatment when I first met Romina. She was so kind and patient. Her presence alone made me feel at ease. Not only was she waiting for me with loads of information about the radiation treatment plan, but she was also waiting for me with the things I might need while undergoing radiation (a brand new robe and 2 different types of cream for the skin around my breast). She was very thorough when explaining the radiation process, what to expect, what to look out for, and when to call for medical advice, and she did so in a way that never felt rushed.

She answered my questions in a kind, patient tone. She also had a folder that contained the information that she was giving me, along with additional resources in case I needed transportation, meals, or support from support groups. I am truly grateful for her time and presence during that visit. She was truly a ray of light during the initial fog of my cancer diagnosis.
