A was hospitalized and transferred to St. Rita’s hospital. A and I were planning on getting married on July 19th. As the days went by, we found out that we were still going to being the hospital on our wedding day. Shelby and a few other nurses saw how upset we were that we weren’t going to be getting married. Shelby and some of the other nurses worked together to find a spot in the hospital for our ceremony and to get A off his monitors for a couple of hours. When Shelby found out that our friends who were going to marry us couldn’t make it, she took it upon herself and asked her husband, who is ordained, to marry us. She then volunteered to take pictures for us. Shelby went above and beyond to make sure everything ran as smoothly as possible and to make sure A was taken care of while celebrating us. Both on Saturday and Sunday, she came in on her days off to help us and bring us our pictures. She took the SD card home, edited the pictures for us, and when she was done, she printed 4 of them and gave us the SD card with the rest of the pictures. Shelby went above and beyond to make sure Andrew and I had our special day, even though we were in the hospital. Shelby is a very deserving candidate for the DAISY Award.
