So when Matt returned about 10 minutes later with this glorious sugar-free orange popsicle in a cute little bowl, I felt like I had hit the lottery.
So I had the pleasure of having Matt as my nurse. He has always been very kind and very attentive and treats his patients with a lot of dignity, compassion, and kindness. On this particular day, dinner had come up, and I was missing my dessert. Now, being a diabetic, you're very limited on desserts. This dessert is a sugar-free orange popsicle, and honestly is one of my favorite desserts ever! I wish I could buy it outside of the hospital walls, but I have not been able to find it. So when it was not on my tray at dinner time, I asked the food and nutrition attendant about it. He informed me they did not have any more until tomorrow and tried to give me a lemon ice, which I politely declined because I do not like it. I came back into my room and called down to the kitchen, where a woman who picked up the phone. I asked the same of the attendant on the floor. Her reply when I asked if they were out of the sugar-free orange popsicle was, "That might be true." So after my sheer joy of that response, needless to say, I hung up the phone and figured it was not meant to be. Matt asked what was missing from my tray, and when I told him, he was off on a mission to find me my sugar-free orange popsicle. So when Matt returned about 10 minutes later with this glorious sugar-free orange popsicle in a cute little bowl, I felt like I had hit the lottery. Not because I was going to be enjoying said popsicle later on, but because my nurse, who definitely had more patients than just myself, went above and beyond to make this horseshoe kidney, frequent patient, happy. And he did just that. It showed me that to him, all his patients are important. And so are all their wants and needs. So thank you, Matt. You truly are a blessing to this hospital and to this floor.
