It is with great admiration and deep respect that I nominate Jen Mulske for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award. With over 30 years of service in nursing, Jen has dedicated her life to the compassionate care of others and the continual advancement of the nursing profession, as well as all of her colleagues. Throughout her career, she has embodied the heart of nursing: compassion, leadership, advocacy, and mentorship. Jen was one of the best teachers when I first started in nursing, and continues to be one of the most influential nurses for whom I strive to be. Jen always has the best for her patients in mind and always catches the small things that others may miss because she is so thorough. Jen is the kindest and most helpful nurse you could ask for and is always there for support and strength for patients and coworkers. She has taken many nurses under her wing throughout her career, including me, and has encouraged them to do their best and to be better nurses. She is a natural mentor, offering guidance, knowledge, reassurance, and wisdom. Her willingness to invest time and care into the growth of others has helped shape countless nursing careers. Jen is always there to help in all circumstances and genuinely wants the best for each patient and all staff. Jen is one of our floors' greatest role models who advocates for all patients as well as the advancement and recognition of her peers. Jen is lovingly known as "Mama Jen" by many of the floor nurses who work with her because she always goes above and beyond for her patients and coworkers and ensures everyone around her feels respected, valued, and cared for. Jen has an ability to easily connect with people on a deeply human level, which helps her to care for the patients on all levels, not just physically. Jen is the type of nurse I strive to be someday and is one of the most respected nurses on the floor. Jen is a nurse who has left a lasting impact on all of her patients as well as anyone fortunate enough to have worked with her. Her legacy is one of dedication, humility, and a deep love for nursing. For all these reasons and so many more, I wholeheartedly nominate Jen Mulske for the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award. Her life's work has made a difference, not just in the outcomes of patients, but in the hearts of those she has led, mentored, and inspired.
