He was very kind to our dad, even though he was in a comatose state. Justin spoke to him as if he were awake.
My father was brought in with a brain hematoma needing brain surgery. After surgery was transferred to the ICU. My dad is pretty much in a coma and on life support. My sister lives in the area and was able to frequently keep me updated on his condition as I live out of state. It was obvious we were going to have to make a decision, as our dad was not progressing as he should.
I arrived at the ICU. I met Justin as he introduced himself right away. What I saw was a very dedicated, knowledgeable, and caring nurse. He was very kind to our dad, even though he was in a comatose state. Justin spoke to him as if he were awake. I saw there was a lot to tend to with a patient like our dad. Before the decision was made to take our dad off life support, Justin contacted the neurologist and doctor caring for our dad to aid in our decision.
After the decision was made, Justin explained how it would all work and the measures that would be taken to keep our dad comfortable during the transition to death. Every question we had (and there were a lot), he was so knowledgeable and explained everything fully. He has a lot of compassion, and when a relative in the room may have been rude or abrupt with him, well, it didn’t faze him. Always a smile and a kind word.
