Mae was my nurse when I came up from the ER. I got upstairs around 9 pm. She was like an angel in the way she cared for me. I had a lot going on, but when I pushed the call button, she would come. I was a fall risk so she would walk me to the bathroom and when I would come out she had my covers all straightened out and tucked me in like my mom would. This was every time I went.

Her disposition was super sweet, super caring and I was lucky enough to have her two nights in a row. I shared a lot, and she told me some of her story last night. We hugged when she said goodbye that morning, and she literally left me with tears of joy just for having met such a wonderful human being. She never said one mean word, and she was always smiling.

Anyone who has been doing this job for 21 years, still upholds that kind of exemplary work, and does so with a smile deserves to be honored in this way.
