Lauren saw several bags lying in the parking lot when she was leaving for the day. She looked in them and noticed they were full of important items such as a checkbook, keys, a letter to the person’s husband, handwritten notes to caregivers, and gifts for caregivers from J B. Lauren placed the bags in her trunk and returned the next day to work and attempted to find the family. She found out that the patient was awaiting a transplant that was scheduled later the same day she brought the packages back in. After several attempts to call the floor where the patient was, she was able to locate a family member. When she told them what she had found, the family and the patient were overjoyed that she had found the missing items. Lauren proceeded to meet the family in the parking lot (since the bags were too heavy to bring in herself) and gave them their items back. Lauren is one of the infusion nurses on our floor and is not only an excellent nurse but a caregiver full of compassion and integrity. Daily, she puts motivational stickers and little notes on the other infusion nurses’ schedules to brighten their day. She is truly an inspiration to patients and peers alike. Lauren will be finishing her final semester soon to become a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner.
