She gave me a hug when I was at my breaking point. It wasn’t just a gesture; it was exactly what I needed.
There are moments in life when you feel completely overwhelmed when your loved one is critically ill, and you’re surrounded by machines, uncertainty, and fear. During one of the hardest times of my life, there was a nurse who became a light in the darkness - RN Julieta. I’m nominating her for the DAISY Award because she cared for not only my husband, who was a total care patient on BiPAP and needed constant assistance, but also for me in ways I will never forget.

This nurse never hesitated to help, no matter how much was needed. My husband required a great deal of attention, turning, repositioning, monitoring, and more, but she always came in with a calm, caring presence, ready to do anything for him. Her willingness to be there for every little task, without ever making us feel like a burden, meant the world to us.

What made her stand out even more was the way she cared for both of us. She had a way of making my husband laugh, even when things were scary or uncertain. And whenever I had a question, no matter how big or small, she took the time to explain everything with kindness and patience, never making me feel rushed or dismissed.

What truly touched my heart was the moment she gave me a hug when I was at my breaking point. It wasn’t just a gesture; it was exactly what I needed. That small act of compassion gave me strength and comfort when I didn’t even know how to ask for it.

This nurse didn’t just take care of my husband; she took care of our hearts. Her compassion, kindness, and genuine love for her patients and their families are what nursing is all about. She will forever hold a special place in our story, and I am deeply grateful for everything she did for us.
