Barry used his humor to calm me down following my surgery. He helped me walk back and forth in the hallway for the first time. He had words of encouragement along with explanations of how good walking was, interjecting humor to ease my nerves. The following day, he was my discharge nurse. Again, his humor eased my nerves when he took the drainage tube and catheter out. He took the time to explain why I had discomfort with the catheter and what I could do to help that situation. When being discharged, he took great time to explain in depth instructions so clearly that I had no questions, and my son felt confident he could help with my recovery.
