I ended up at the Atrium Health ED. My symptoms were those of a female having a heart attack. My husband and daughter (a nurse) were with me. When the shift change approached, Carly Brackett was my new nurse for the evening. How attentive she was to me and how deeply caring she was really touched my family and me. She explained everything she was doing and the whys. She made sure I was comfortable. She showed compassion when we thought I had a heart attack at some point (later to be determined it was not). She kept us posted on being sent to Atrium Health Pineville and what to expect. She even went the extra mile to get a recliner for my husband so he could be comfortable until that time arrived. She was even gentle and compassionate when she advised that she would have to start another IV for a heparin drip, making sure she placed it in a good spot for the drip to flow. She was so gentle with me (I don’t like needles). My daughter, as I stated, is a nurse, and we were both so happy to have Carly assisting me. She has chosen the right career path as she is an amazing nurse. She certainly helped to reduce the stress in a very stressful situation. I hope that Atrium Health Cleveland will recognize her for the skill, compassion, gentleness, and love that she has shown! I thank her for being the nurse that God placed with me that evening. She helped give me a sense of calm and peace. Thank you for allowing me to share Carly’s story
