Ilene joined the trust at a critical stage. She bravely took on Ilene in midwifery when the NHS needed a leader. Through all the challenges, Ilene proved to be a grounded leader who put in systems for the senior team and for the workforce at large. Ilene demonstrates a true transformational leadership style, transforming the service during her time.

A true inclusive leader who leads with her team. A role model to many junior leaders. She leads the service with confidence and a clear pathway. She plays the trust card and is happy to “lift as she climbs,” supporting her team as they continue to grow. One day I listened to a senior leader describe how much she trusted Ilene leadership. In her words, she said, “If Ilene asked me to jump, I would, because I trust she knows what she is talking about.” Ilene is a credit to the NHS, and it's a shame to see her go.
