I would like to nominate Cynthia (Cindy) Cisneros from the Inpatient Wound Management Support Team at ORMC. Cindy truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award and lives out the values of Passion, Empathy, Trustworthiness, Advocacy, Love, and Selflessness in everything she does. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to work alongside her and to have had her as my preceptor. The opportunity to learn from her—absorbing even a fraction of her knowledge, skill, and compassionate approach to care—has been a gift.
I’ve witnessed Cindy in action countless times, supporting patients and families through some of their most vulnerable moments. Caring for individuals with new ostomies—whether planned or emergent—requires not only clinical expertise but also deep emotional intelligence. Cindy consistently provides the perfect balance of encouragement, motivation, and empathy. Her ability to help patients overcome fear and anxiety, and to restore their dignity and confidence, is nothing short of inspiring.
Cindy goes above and beyond in ways that are both meaningful and memorable. She has purchased pizza, candy, and small treats out of her own pocket—not for recognition, but to build trust and connection with her patients. Her patients remember her by name, and when they return to the hospital, they often express relief and joy knowing she will be there to care for them again. They trust her, rely on her, and feel safe in her presence.
But Cindy’s impact doesn’t stop at the bedside. She is a pillar of support for her team—always professional, always striving for excellence. She mentors, encourages, and uplifts her colleagues, sharing her knowledge generously and helping to foster a culture of compassion and collaboration. Cindy is the embodiment of what the DAISY Award represents. Her passion for nursing, her unwavering empathy, and her selfless dedication to both patients and peers make her truly deserve this honor.
