She made my baby feel so comfortable and welcome here.
My three-year-old daughter was admitted to CHKD because she had rhinovirus, which was causing her oxygen levels to drop. When we got to our room, the first nurse we met was Sydney. It was obvious she was new here, just starting her nursing journey. Not in a bad way at all, but she was a bit nervous, which honestly made my daughter feel so comfortable and not alone because she was nervous too!
Sydney answered every single question I had as a parent and gave me very important information about the hospital, things no other nurse has ever informed me about, and we have been in this hospital a couple of times. That really meant so much to me. On top of that, my daughter loved her! She made my baby feel so comfortable and welcome here.
Every time she came into our room, she would say “hey friend” to my daughter, and it would just make my baby girl light up with the biggest smile. Sydney had an amazing amount of compassion, patience, and understanding. Her positive energy and the amount of happiness she had were truly amazing. She helped my baby feel calm, welcomed, and happy, and helped take away the anxiety she was having. She treated my baby as if she were her own.
She is one of the best nurses I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, and I’m so thankful she was the first one we had because it helped my baby be comfortable when she was in a scary, uncomfortable situation. Sydney is the most extraordinary nurse I have ever met.
Thank you so much, Sydney, for making my baby feel comfortable and safe.
