I first met Matt on my initial hospital stay and we just hit it off. He was my nurse several times on outpatient visits. I asked him if I could request a particular nurse for my bone marrow transplant, and he said that I could. I then asked if he would be my nurse for that and he said "Yes!" immediately! My transplant was scheduled for 2/7. As we got closer to the date, he came in and told me he had been approved to complete my transplant with me. It turns out, he was actually 'off' on 2/7. He came in on his day off just to do my transplant with me!

My doctor and Matt were in my room when we started. My doctor played ' eye of the tiger', so we were all kinda dancing around and my doctor began infusing my line with stem cells. Matt continued to dance with me, even after the doctor left the room. Every time I see Matt, he is always upbeat, clearly willing to go above and beyond for his patients. He is well liked by all of his peers and you can tell he loves what he does. I am happy to nominate him for the DAISY Award, having him as my nurse put me at ease through the entire process.
