So, after his bath, Ashley took him on a walk to the end of the ICU hallway that overlooks the garden.
Ashley was caring for a patient who was going to have an amputation of his lower leg the next day. She took the extra time to not only give him a good bath (standard) but to listen to what he wanted before his big surgery. He wanted to walk one last time. So, after his bath, she took him on a walk to the end of the ICU hallway that overlooks the garden. He stood in the window, basking in the sunlight, and then sat for a little while. She called the chaplain at his request, and they prayed with the chaplain. The chaplain wrote a prayer for the patient and asked that the nursing staff say the prayer with the patient in the morning before his surgery. Ashley passed the prayer off to the night shift nurse, who read the prayer to the patient before his surgery.
