I cannot fully express how thankful I am that Karin was a part of my child's care team during his time at JHACH from March to July. My son, unfortunately, passed away, but throughout his stay, Karin went above and beyond in every possible way to care for not only him but also our entire family.

Karin embodies what it means to be an extraordinary nurse. She made me and my family feel heard, valued, and supported. She tirelessly advocated for our wants and needs, no matter what, and her dedication made a lasting impact on our experience. Her compassion, strength, and unwavering commitment gave us comfort and confidence in the midst of unimaginable circumstances.

I developed a deep bond and friendship with Karin. When I knew that she was going to be caring for my son, I knew without a doubt he was receiving the best of the best care, and I was able to leave the hospital to spend time with my other children or to take a breath for a minute. Even though most of the time, I just as much enjoyed just being in her company.

She created moments for us with our child that we will remember for the rest of our lives. Having just that little bit of normalcy made the biggest difference. Whether she encouraged me to help with his care, assisted me with being able to hold him for hours on end, helped me set up photo shoots, arts and crafts, activities for my other children to be involved in, you name it, she was involved, and those are memories with my children I will carry forever.

 That time I spent with him was so precious, and she is a big reason for that. Her ability to create moments of peace and togetherness in such a critical time is something I will forever cherish. Karin is not only an exceptional nurse, but she is also an exceptional human being. She has made a profound difference in our lives through her care, advocacy, and, most of all, her heart.
