Ms. Waters is an exemplary example of what a nurse should be. It has been so beneficial to me as a student to have her as my clinical instructor. Ms. Waters is always willing to lend a helping hand to her students and turn it into a learning experience. Being on clinical with Ms. Waters has given me a sense of independence as a student nurse, with the knowledge that if I needed anything, she would be right there to answer any and all questions. One specific example that sticks out to me, that embodies Ms. Waters as a leader and a great nurse, is when my CMO patient passed away during our shift. Ms. Waters graciously offered to walk me through postmortem lines and drains removal. Upon arrival at the deceased patient's room, Ms. Waters first knocked, then, upon entering, she introduced herself and explained the care we would be providing. While it was a routine gesture, it stuck out to me because of the fact that the patient was already deceased. Ms. Waters went the extra mile and continued to respect my patient and his autonomy. Ms. Waters was also sure to include the students who also wanted to participate, as she knew it was a learning experience. She allowed us to follow one of the nurses to the morgue to escort the patient and see that process. Ms. Waters is an inspiration to her students and deserves to be recognized for all that she does.
