I sincerely appreciated his kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion, connection, and understanding that I have a full plate caring for my family.
The following story comes from a burn survivor who spent 95 days in Harborview recovering from her injuries. She has a deep appreciation for nurses and the difficult job they do every day. She strives to give good feedback and acknowledgement when she receives outstanding service:
My dad went from the ER to 3rd Surgical on a Wednesday night. I did not get home until after 1:00 am. My husband had his own medical complications, which delayed my return to the hospital to visit my dad. I asked the reception desk if I could speak with his nurse to get caught up on his test results.
Ben was very kind and caring and took time to talk with me and ask questions about my dad's medical history. He reached out to the hospitalist handling my dad's case. He came back to the room to inform me she would be there shortly, and she arrived 10 minutes later. We had a great conversation, heard test results, and next step plans.
After she left, we visited with Dad a little longer, then went home. A while later, Ben called to verify that I had connected with the hospitalist and to ask whether all my questions had been answered. I sincerely appreciated his kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion, connection, and understanding that I have a full plate caring for my family. I have never experienced follow-up like that before.
Thank you, Ben, for your professionalism and caring attitude.
