Sam is really an awesome pre-op nurse with 30 years of experience from several departments. We’ve been here three times over the past five to six years for surgeries for my husband. Sam had no upfront intel that my husband was a primary care physician with 42 years of experience.

Sam was very friendly, matter-of-fact, professional, and swift. I have experience in the OR, sterile field, etc., and Sam’s expertise shone. Quick with a double IV; thorough with gloves off and gloves on. Both IVs took mere seconds to hit each vein. He hit all points needed for explanations/expectations of surgery, and such a happy attitude!

When he detected a hint of medical knowledge in “doctor hubby” he was so apologetic about not knowing and therefore talking to him as he would a non-medical patient, we told him it was just wonderful to get a thorough experience with no assumptions made that my husband might know what to expect at all points. We didn’t know it all, so we learned a lot from Sam! My husband was able to relax and let the pros take over - and me too!
