My aunt is a patient of your MICU. I am writing to you today to express my sincerest gratitude to the nurse that provided care for her today. Her name is Diana. We had many family members present today, with some family dynamics in play. My aunt was transferred to your facility on Friday evening after being found unresponsive in her home. She was intubated, on Levo, sedated, and art lined.
This nurse was professional, honest, realistic, helpful, a great communicator, compassionate, and focused on my aunt’s well-being and comfort. All of the things that I would hope for in a nurse caring for my family. I am also a MICU nurse and got to be a family member today. I was immediately at ease and able to focus on my family because of your nurse. I have never been on this side of things; I have not had a loved one in this condition, and today I gained more perspective on how my patients' families feel and how important our work is to them, even if it is just another day to us.
I know my aunt is a typical patient for your staff, but we did not feel ordinary today. I did express my gratitude to her as well, but…I have been a nurse for a long time, and your nurse is 100% one I want on my team, and I feel it was important to let you know that. I needed her to know that she made a difference today.
