Her energy, positivity, kindness, encouragement, and her knowledge and ability meant so much to my wife and this very tired husband.
Sara came in mid-morning after our first morning nurse got switched, and hit the ground running. She was happy and energetic, positive and encouraging. She had read up on my wife and knew what was going on. She was on point. I had to leave for the day to go home with our children, and I was worried about leaving her alone. I communicated with Sara about it, and she said no worries, she'll take care of her. She ordered her lunch, helped her eat, got her walking around, and made sure my wife was really relaxed and comfortable. She had great energy. My wife can't communicate well right now, and Sara was just incredible. I was afraid that my wife would just be left in bed and be forgotten, except for giving meds.
Sara made sure that didn't happen, and I can't describe in this section how much it meant to me for her to take some of the stress off of me while I drove 2 and a half hours home to check on our kids and get back. I was late getting back, and we were pushing close to the end of dinner, and she was just about to call me to see what I wanted her to get for my wife. I wish we could have her as our nurse every shift. We have six kids, so we've spent some time in the hospital, not to mention the time we've spent in this hospital, and she is by far one of the best nurses we've come across. Her energy, positivity, kindness, encouragement, and her knowledge and ability meant so much to my wife and this very tired husband. My wife was almost a different person when I returned after 6 hours. Yes, she got new meds too, but it was clear to me that her interactions with Sara all day were a huge boost.
