My 5-week-old infant daughter was admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with whooping cough. It was a very scary time as she would go into fits of coughing, where she would desaturate oxygen and turn blue. One of these fits landed her on a BiPAP breathing machine for 24 hours. During this time, Jamie was our nurse, and he was nothing short of fantastic.

He shows so much empathy and is so thorough in his care. He handled my baby with such tenderness and love when he would change her dressings, swaddle her, give her medication, soothe her back to sleep, etc. He even rearranged the entire room for me so that I could hold my baby while she was on this breathing machine, all while showing empathy for my hurting mama heart.

The next day that Jamie was on shift, my daughter went into an emergency where she stopped breathing. Without any panic whatsoever, Jamie brought my daughter back to life while her monitors were blaring throughout the room, her oxygen levels dropped to 30% and her heart rate dropped to the 40s. I almost lost her in that moment but thanks to him I get to take my baby home.

I can’t say enough amazing things about this man, and we were so blessed to receive his care during our stay at the hospital! He not only gave my daughter exceptional care, but he also made sure we, as mom and dad, had our mental states intact. The feeling of relief that washed over me when I found out he would be taking care of us for the day was unmatched!
