I was blown away by how kind and thoughtful Diana was.
Diana exemplifies what it means to conduct patient-centered care with empathy, kindness, and putting the patient first. I am a resident on the ICU team, and I had the pleasure of working with Diana. This is my third month of residency, and I have often felt overwhelmed; however, with nurses like Diana, my job becomes so much more manageable and meaningful.
We had a patient who started experiencing an adverse reaction to a medication, and Diana made sure to notify us immediately. She sat next to the patient and comforted him until he began to feel better. She helped him find comforting music, use his phone, and make sure that he was stable in every aspect. She kept me updated on the situation every few minutes. She truly exemplifies what it means to put the patient first.
In a situation with a patient who is very sick and scared, she did everything possible to make him more comfortable and communicate her concerns and his needs to the resident team. We all sat with the patient while his vitals stabilized, and I was blown away by how kind and thoughtful Diana was. Any patient would be lucky to have her, and she is an asset to the residents and ICU team. Her ability to go above and beyond for her patients and emphasize clear communication with the resident team is extraordinary.
