Mary created an environment full of trust, compassion, mutual respect, and always modeled exemplary leadership behavior. Encouragement was always given to do one's best, and guidance was provided for professional development, including help with creating an individual learning plan for leadership growth in nursing.

On a personal level, when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, she showed great compassion and understanding, ensuring I had the support I needed during that journey, for which I am still very thankful. Mary always makes sure to be available to the team and prioritizes responding to each individual. Time is taken to respond to the team, and she always follows through with the plan of care.

Mary is the definition of a compassionate leader, consistently showing compassion to every team member. Concerns are listened to with an open mind, and solutions to sensitive issues are found thoughtfully. Staff are uplifted by highlighting positive situations, and sensitivity is shown when discussing difficult situations. The compassion and support received during my diagnosis will always stand out as an example of grace and understanding.
