I was nervous and panicking, but Christian kept telling me encouraging words, assuring me that everything would be okay and showing me what a great person and nurse he is.
1st Nomination
Mr. Hernandez has been an excellent instructor for nursing students during clinicals. This semester, students had the privilege to perform their clinical experience under Mr. Hernandez’s supervision. I have seen and assessed Mr. Hernandez’s professional nurse-to-student interaction firsthand, and I must say he is an outstanding individual. His dedication, patience, and professionalism have been recognized by his students and faculty as well. Mr. Hernandez is a perfect example of a compassionate nurse leader. I am proud and honored to say that Mr. Hernandez was a former nursing student of mine. In my opinion, I commend Laredo Medical Center for having nurses such as Christian in their organization, providing care for our community.”

2nd Nomination
Today, I am writing as both an employee and a patient. The reason for my nomination for Christian is as follows: About a year ago, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism,
which caused me to be hospitalized ten months ago due to a thyroid crisis. Christian was my nurse, and his treatment, dedication, and care made me feel like I was in the
right hands. But above all, he made me feel confident that everything would be fine —and it was. Thank you, Christian.
Another instance in which he made me feel supported, especially as a patient, and proud of him as a coworker, happened a few weeks ago. While I was working, I started to feel unwell. My charge nurse told me I needed to go to the emergency room immediately. While I hesitated, Christian didn’t think twice — he was already behind me with a wheelchair, ready to take me (almost flying!) to the emergency room. I was nervous and panicking, but Christian kept telling me encouraging words, assuring me that everything would be okay and showing me what a great person and nurse he is.
While we waited for my turn to be seen, he never left my side — not for a second — until he was completely sure that I wasn’t alone. He waited for my best friend to arrive and said ‘I leave her in your hands. Those words touched my heart, and I will keep them with me forever. I feel incredibly proud, grateful, and above all, truly blessed to have such a wonderful coworker and nurse, like Christian, by my side.
