The NICU will be a memorable place, not because of its stress, but because of the positive, warm experience that Kaitlyn contributed to.
Our son was admitted to the NICU after a few hours in specialty care shortly after his pre-term delivery. Kaitlyn was his nurse right from the beginning and took time to explain everything my husband should expect. She made my husband feel calm and welcomed in this potentially high-stress environment while I was still in surgery. While I (mom) was recovering from an intense surgery in the PACU, Kaitlyn came down to personally introduce herself and let me know that my son was in good hands and her hands.

It was the most personal touch I had received in a hospital setting. Kaitlyn continued to be our son’s nurse throughout his NICU stay, and each day she greeted us with warmth, care, professionalism, and a personal touch. Not only did she craft sweet crafts to capture milestones and moments during our son’s stay, but she also supported the start of breastfeeding and each transition of his care with attention to detail, clear explanations, and reassurance.

When it was time for our son to meet his big brother, Kaitlyn was sure to make our toddler feel welcome and safe in the NICU. It can be an overwhelming environment, and Kaitlyn did an excellent job creating personal touches and offering kid-friendly toys in that space to make it feel more welcoming. Kaitlyn was there at our son’s admission and also close to his discharge, which bookended a fabulous experience in this NICU.

We are so grateful for Kaitlyn's care, and she went above and beyond during our stay. The NICU will be a memorable place, not because of its stress, but because of the positive, warm experience that Kaitlyn contributed to. She truly felt like a leader of our son’s care team, and we trusted her every step of the way.
