She believes in the dignity of every patient and the worth of every nurse.
It is with deep admiration and gratitude that I nominate Carrie Dodge for the DAISY Award. As the nurse manager of our acute inpatient psychiatric unit, she exemplifies the highest standards of compassionate leadership, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to both staff and patients.
Carrie leads with humility and grace, consistently putting the needs of others before her own. She never seeks recognition for her tireless efforts, yet her impact is felt in every corner of our unit. Whether it's staying late to support a struggling team member, quietly purchasing patient supplies out of her own pocket, or organizing celebrations for Nurses Week to uplift her staff, she gives generously without ever asking for anything in return. Her kindness is not performative; it is foundational.
She creates a culture of psychological safety, where nurses feel seen, supported, and valued. Her leadership is rooted in service, and her actions speak volumes. She believes in the dignity of every patient and the worth of every nurse. Even in the most challenging moments, she remains calm, present, and deeply human.
Carrie embodies the spirit of nursing not just in clinical excellence, but in the quiet, powerful ways she nurtures healing, hope, and connection. She is the kind of leader who changes lives simply by being who she is. For all the times she's lifted others up without fanfare, it's time we lift her up. She is more than deserving of this DAISY Award.
