As you can imagine, the NICU is somewhere no parent wants to be with their child, but having Joelle there was such a blessing for our family.
Being told your brand-new baby would be admitted to the NICU is something no parent wants to hear. I had my second baby, and that's exactly what I was told: "Your son will be going to the NICU." My heart broke at that moment. My brand-new baby. My first son. Not only that, but I was also unable to get out of bed, which meant I could not go with him to the NICU until I was allowed to get up. What should have been a time of bonding with my newborn quickly became a time of fear, panic, and confusion.

As soon as I could go, I went. This is where I met Joelle. She was the lead nurse for a lot of our stay in the NICU, and one day took over my son's care as our original nurse had to leave. Joelle was incredibly knowledgeable and truly took the time to listen to what I, as a mom, wanted for my baby. She was calm and exactly what my husband and I needed in this moment. She was always available for questions and gave very thorough replies. She greeted us as we came in and out of the NICU, even when she wasn't our nurse. She checked in on us when she didn't have to.

Joelle truly was a reason that I was able to relax and just spend time with my son instead of worrying about all the what-ifs. She is truly working in an area that is her calling. She was made to be a nurse. We could absolutely tell that she gives her all to each little human she comes in contact with and the families, as well. As you can imagine, the NICU is somewhere no parent wants to be with their child, but having Joelle there was such a blessing for our family. Thank you, Joelle, for being you.
