Jillian showed compassion, care and respect to me. She patiently listened to what brought me here, empathized and helped me feel like I am not alone
1st Nomination
Jillian was my daytime nurse. I was here due to breaking my ribs. It was hard to move around. Jillian showed compassion, care and respect to me. She patiently listened to what brought me here, empathized and helped me feel like I am not alone. As a transgender individual, my hospital experience is typically not positive. She respected me and my pronouns, did not make me feel uncomfortable when I was having issues getting to the bathroom, made me feel like a friend, and genuinely showed care and compassion.
She was with a student who was shadowing her. She was informative, giving good instructions on procedures and was a shining example to this student. We need more nurses like this. Jillian deserves recognition for her dedication to care, mentoring others and making patients feel seen, heard, and cared for. Her presence made my day better, and I felt less pain because of it.
2nd Nomination
Jill was my daytime nurse after a truly difficult night for me. I first met Jill in the hallway when I was saying goodbye to my overnight nurse. She said, “Hi! I’m Jill. I’m going to be your nurse today”. Those kind words and a proper introduction let me know I was in good hands for the day. Jill was great at communicating, listening to me, making sure my med list was correct, and she always came back to check up on me. She wasn’t a nurse I only saw during med pass. She was communicative and so kind. I am so happy she was my nurse today.
