My father was in a terrible accident. Over the course of 11 days, he was in the ICU at Essentia until he ultimately passed away. We had great nurses the entire time, but Kaitlin truly was exceptional. We first met Kaitlin the night we took my dad off life support. She took incredible care of my father, even though he was on comfort measures at that time. She showed compassion and took the time to make sure he was comfortable. Kaitlin was great to my father, and I will forever be grateful for that, but the reason I am nominating her, what sets her apart, is how she treated the rest of my family, specifically my mother. Kaitlin was there for us on our worst day. She showed empathy and took care of our needs as well. We were fortunate to have Kaitlin on two different days in the ICU, and I can honestly say she was a bright spot in our darkest time. Some people do a job, but Kaitlin is definitely doing what she was meant to do. She doesn't treat it like a job. She shows compassion, empathy, and kindness, not only to her patients but also to those around her. I, along with the rest of my family, will forever be grateful to Kaitlin for the care she took of my dad and of the rest of us.
