A burn patient became critically ill, requiring ECMO treatment. Bailey went to check in on the family to see how they were doing with this development. She found out the family was the patient's wife and six kids, plus one dog, and they had all been sleeping just wherever they could since the accident because they had limited resources.

Bailey was able to get them the resources they needed, but also, in the conversation, discovered that one of the children was having a birthday the next day. Bailey organized a birthday party for the fifteen-year-old girl with pizza, cake, games, and a little gift. It gave us a chance to show the family a little encouragement and give them a break from the heaviness of having a loved one so sick. To see that family getting the chance to smile a little was really special.
