My daughter is here with me now, and together we want to say thank you, Lauren.
Where do I even begin? We brought our daughter to Grossmont Hospital because she was vomiting. She tested positive for both COVID and the flu, and doctors mentioned a possible enlarged heart. Our anxiety skyrocketed. Then we learned she would be transferred to the Children’s Hospital, and I broke down. I cried, terrified that something more serious was wrong, overwhelmed by the thought of losing her.

When we arrived at the Children’s Hospital, my fear only grew. Seeing her in the NICU was heartbreaking. During the shift change, Lauren took over her care. I was already shaken by the COVID precautions that kept me mostly alone, but Lauren’s presence brought comfort. I cried nearly every hour, watching my daughter so helpless, but the compassion and attention Lauren gave her were incredible. I stepped out for about an hour to the Ronald McDonald House to shower and eat. When I returned, I found Lauren playing gently with my daughter. She wasn’t just safe; she was cared for with love. Lauren is more than a nurse; she is an angel. Please recognize Lauren for everything she does. My daughter is here with me now, and together we want to say thank you, Lauren. We are forever grateful for your kindness, skill, and the comfort you gave us in one of the hardest moments of our lives. God bless you.
