Kandice took care of us like we were her own family.
Death is never something you want to deal with, but when you have a nurse like Kandice it makes it a little bit easier. We knew dads time was coming to the end and when we knew his body was failing Kandice held moms’ hand and told her it would all be okay. Mom started to cry she got her tissues and sat next to her and me too. She explained what was going on and answered all my questions so I could get it. When we got to the hospital that morning, she was in dad’s room working on him and you could tell she was trying really hard.
Kandice took care of us like we were her own family. Dad wanted some scrambled eggs and sun drop for breakfast so Kandice went and found it for him and I think she paid for it. She even took his pillowcase home and washed it because it was getting dirty at the hospital for so many days. We never asked her to do any of this she just did it and had it done before we ever knew. The reason I knew she had washed the pillow case was because I saw the stain was gone and dad told me. She gave us all hugs and we cried when it was time to make dad hospice. Her bright smile lit up the room every time she was around and she was the only person dad wanted to change his bandage. When we got moved to another room we were all so sad she wouldn’t be our nurse anymore.
She isn’t just a nurse she is a bright person who deserves all the light and you can tell she is a nurse because of her heart. I saw she had a bunch of flowers on her badge and I see why. We have had a lot of nurses but none of them were like her.
