What stood out most was the way Daniel treated my dad like a person, not just a patient.
Our family experienced a difficult and emotional chapter when my dad was hospitalized unexpectedly for acute kidney failure. We are a close-knit family, and it was overwhelming to watch the strongest man we know suddenly unable to do even the most basic tasks, such as using the restroom, bathing, and feeding himself, all while battling pneumonia and daily health changes.

Throughout this incredibly vulnerable time, several staff members provided care that went far beyond the clinical. Their compassion, humanity, and genuine connection with our family made all the difference. Daniel cared for my dad in his final days on B6, just before he transferred to Bannasch, and his care made a powerful impact. He treated my dad with dignity, patience, and respect, even when things were difficult.

Dad was mentally almost back to normal, but physically very weak, so he was frustrated by not being able to get up and move around on his own. Daniel helped get my dad up and moving around as much as possible, which made a big difference physically and emotionally. What stood out most was the way Daniel treated my dad like a person, not just a patient. He offered calm encouragement, clear communication, and a sense of humanity that we’ll never forget.

His presence made the transition out of the hospital less daunting and helped us all feel more confident moving forward.
