My dad was placed on the 5th floor ICU following his back surgery. Everyone was great at caring for my dad during his stay in the unit. However, 1 nurse in particular, Chelsea Holly, went above and beyond to provide extraordinary care for my dad. Chelsea was the 2nd shift or night nurse assigned to my dad.

About halfway through her shift, my dad became very uncomfortable and in extreme pain. During this time, his BP spiked into the 220s systolic. She comforted my dad throughout the night at one point, standing at his bedside for approximately 45 minutes to make sure his condition did not worsen. When several meds failed to ease the pain or lower his BP, she made multiple calls to on-call physicians, trying to find some meds that might help. She succeeded in lowering his BP and easing the pain until he finally fell asleep.

When my dad woke the next morning, he felt much better, thanks to Chelsea. As a matter of fact, his first question to me was to please find her so he could "personally thank her for all she had done." As a last note from me: The Son. I personally manage departments at 3 hospitals. I know 1st hand what great nursing and extraordinary compassion look like. Chelsea made a difference in my life, and my dad's!
