Marina is the nurse through 365 Health Services for G, L’s son. G was born prematurely 36 years ago in Sarajevo, Bosnia. G is legally blind due to Retinopathy of Prematurity. We began visiting the USA before he turned one, and due to the civil war in our homeland, we moved here permanently. G, my husband, and I were granted political asylum, and we have not returned to our country. Before G turned five, he underwent an emergency liver transplant. At age nine, he was diagnosed with Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP), a rare condition that progressively attacks his organs. He stopped walking, and due to tightening in his lungs from FOP, he had a tracheotomy and is on a ventilator. Since then, we have navigated the complexities of working with nurses. None can compare to one exceptional caregiver, Marina. Marina is outstanding- incredibly knowledgeable, professional, immaculate, and deeply devoted to her work. Marina dedicated herself exclusively to working with G during COVID. The bond they formed is undeniable; although G is blind and has never seen her, her voice consistently brings a joyful smile to his face. Throughout her time with us, Marina had both of her children and continued to provide exceptional care. Marina is always focused on G - washing him, pampering him, administering medications, and caring for wounds. Her commitment to his well-being is nothing short of perfection. She is constantly punctual and maintained a positive attitude that is truly remarkable. I cannot function without her support. I only trust and thank her that I can still go to work as a child and adolescent psychologist-licensed behavior consultant, and create my art pieces in my free time. My success in all areas is only possible thanks to Marina. I love her as if she were my daughter, and I am deeply grateful for the exceptional care and affection she provides for my son.
