The power of words can create positive, life-changing effects. I witnessed this saying through the kind actions and words of one of our staff members. Taryn’s heart-to-heart conversations can do things that sometimes medicine can’t do. A simple conversation between the patient and Taryn (who are both young mothers) resulted in a positive impact on the patient, who was struggling with addiction. Thanks to Taryn’s words, the patient found the courage to take action, fight the odds, and change her life.

I am confident that the kind and impactful people, like Taryn, will continue to raise the bar. Nursing is not just passing out medication, doing assessments, and calling rapids. It is deeper than that. I am glad to see that Taryn is dedicated to the well-being of her patients. She is a valuable asset to her unit and has risen above any award that we can possibly give her. I know she has positively changed the life of the patient who was fighting addiction and her infant baby.
