When a recent post-operative ICU patient described their stay at Decatur Morgan Hospital, they said they had “the best nurse EVER.” Having experienced many hospitalizations, the patient shared that their nurse stood out for her intelligence, compassion, and sense of humor — making them feel completely at ease and confident in their care. At the end of her shift, the patient jokingly asked if she would bring them breakfast the next morning. Sure enough, she arrived early with it in hand. That simple act of kindness meant so much that the patient nominated her for the DAISY Award, recognizing her for going above and beyond to care for those she serves.
