Her compassion and support she gives this veteran is above and beyond what I'd ever expect to see.
I've been able to observe Lyndsey work on the unit as a charge nurse and/or staff nurse over the course of the last year and witnessed many positive interactions with her and the veterans. One example with her and a particular veteran really stands out to me.
We have a veteran right now who has Dementia with behavioural disturbances on the unit who has been turned down from other VA programs and community nursing homes. Lyndsey has identified his triggers and works with him when she can notice he is less dysregulated. I've witnessed her feed him, put lotion on his legs, and hold his hand to walk him back to his room when he is disoriented. Her compassion and support she gives this veteran is above and beyond what I'd ever expect to see. Even at times when the veteran is disorganized, she meets him with a smile and talks to him. This veteran always seems to remember Lyndsey, and she seems to calm him down and dysregulate him. I'm sure veterans and their families would love to see the caring support that Lyndsey gives to the veterans.
