I nominate Caroline for the DAISY Award because of the incredible compassion and kindness she showed to a long-term patient on our unit.

We had a patient who had been with us for about two weeks and had very few personal belongings or basic care items. Caroline immediately noticed this and wanted to make sure the patient felt cared for and comfortable. On her own time, after hours, she went out and purchased shampoo, conditioner, soap, a loofah, and Dr. Teal's lotion to give the patient a chance to feel refreshed and more comfortable.

But she didn't stop there -- Caroline also picked out some decorative items to help brighten the patient's room and make it feel more like home. This thoughtful gesture not only provided comfort but also showed the patient she was valued as a person, not just a patient. All of this brought tears of gratitude to the patient's eyes.

Caroline's actions embody the true spirit of nursing -- going above and beyond to care for the whole person.
