From the moment Jeff walked into my room, I knew I would like him! He didn’t treat me like just another patient on his list for the day, but was invested in me, my comforts, my anxiety, and my health.

Right before surgery, he (and another nurse) realized we shared a connection with someone we both knew, which led him to say, “What this means is that we’re all basically family in here. We’re going to take good care of you and make sure all goes well for you today.” I barely remember anything else that was said during that time, as it was moments before I fell asleep, but that sticks out to me word-for-word because that is one of the best statements a healthcare worker could ever say to a patient.

It certainly was one of the most meaningful things ever said to me in a healthcare environment and reminded me of the impact one person’s words and actions can have on another.
