I have been a nurse on 4W for a while, and Melissa has just recently become the new manager. I got the pleasure of working with Melissa when she was the AUM for 4W, and I am thrilled that she was selected for the position. Since she started, I have seen her on the floor helping staff more in just a few short weeks than prior management did over a span of 4 years. She has been hands-on when it comes to both her employees’ needs and the veterans.

I float frequently, and it is rare you see a manager come out onto the floor to help, especially when it comes to patient care. Melissa has taken a manager role, but is still actively involved with patient care, which is such a blessing to have. Especially being the rehab unit, we are a lot more hands-on with our patients than the other wards, and there are times when patients can’t rehab as well as they should be due to staffing. Melissa actively coming out on the floor, without even being asked, helps us provide the level of care that is expected. I am greatly looking forward to the future for not only myself as an employee, but for the Veterans and the unit as a whole. Melissa continually goes above and beyond for veterans and staff.
