I sustained a very traumatic injury, so my doctor sent me to Akron General to see a specialist. I was at the Akron General Emergency Department in the early hours. While she was not my assigned nurse, Shelby also took care of me. She came in to check on me, and she was able to get the order for my pain meds quickly and administer the medication so I could be more comfortable.

I, myself, am an RN, and being on the receiving end of care after a traumatic accident makes me confident in saying Shelby went above and beyond with the amount of compassion and care she showed me. Shelby ensured that I was treated with dignity, sensitivity, and privacy. She went above and beyond to make sure I was cared for in a timely manner and as comfortable as I could be.

During my examination, she held my hand and talked me through the pain. I was so appreciative to have a nurse care for me as an individual, not a number. All the staff that evening were very understanding and compassionate towards me, and Shelby provided exemplary care to a patient who wasn't even assigned to her.
