My family member was admitted to the hospital and needed lots of labs, scans, angiogram, intubation, EVD, lines, and medications. We were not even sure she would survive the night.

The next morning, we met Sam, and from the second we met her, she showed patience, compassion, and genuine care for my sister in her time of great need. She gently answered all our questions and was incredibly attentive, so much so that she almost missed lunch. She noticed changes in my sister’s condition (neuro exam and vital signs) and immediately reported it to the medical team. They were able to act swiftly.

She collaborated with us as family, the RT, PT, the charge nurse, and the medical team to ensure seamless and thorough care. I felt very safe and comfortable with the care she was delivering. She was our angel on a really dark day. My sister’s condition improved steadily throughout the day, and she even laughed with us as the stress melted off. She was patient and kind with my sister in a way that was clear to her, even in her altered mental state.

Sam creates an environment that is highly skilled, competent, and technically sound, while also holistically addressing the patient and family with kindness that is palpable. This is not easy to do and is rarely found. Our medical team was wonderful, and having Sam as our nurse just made all the difference.

I am so grateful she was assigned to this case, and we got to experience her care. We love Sam!
