My dad had an incredible nurse during a time when he really needed someone who was both tough and compassionate. She was nothing short of amazing—patient, sharp, and completely unshaken by his constant complaints and not-so-funny sarcasm (which, let’s be honest, he thought was hilarious). No matter how stubborn he got, she never backed down. She knew exactly what needed to be done, and she made sure it happened—even when he didn’t want to hear it, and especially when he didn’t want to do it.

Her knowledge and confidence made it impossible not to trust her, and even my dad, with all his grumbling, knew deep down that she was exactly the kind of person you’d want in your corner. It takes a special kind of person to care for someone like that with such grace and grit. She didn’t just do her job—she made a real impact.
