He did not freeze. He rose to the moment with the very best of what we hope for in a nurse, a teammate, and a human being.
I want to take a moment to recognize Archel for his extraordinary actions during a situation none of us ever hope to encounter, especially outside the hospital walls. While enjoying a game of pickleball with one of our fellow nurses, Archel suddenly found himself in the midst of a life-or-death emergency. His colleague collapsed without warning, and in an instant, everything changed.

Without hesitation, Archel stepped into action. He quickly assessed the situation, recognized the severity, and immediately began performing life-saving CPR. In those critical, terrifying moments, he remained calm, focused, and compassionate, doing exactly what was needed when every second mattered.

Thanks to his quick thinking, clinical expertise, and unwavering presence of mind, Archel gave his colleague a fighting chance at survival. Responding to an emergency in a hospital is one thing. Responding in a public setting with no equipment, no team, and no preparation requires instinct, skill, and extraordinary courage.

We are incredibly fortunate to have someone like Archel on our team. He is not only highly trained and technically skilled, but also deeply compassionate and remarkably composed under pressure. He did not panic. He did not freeze. He rose to the moment with the very best of what we hope for in a nurse, a teammate, and a human being.

His actions serve as a powerful reminder of the kind of people we work alongside every day, individuals whose commitment to caring for others doesn’t end when the shift does. Archel truly embodies the heart of nursing, and our team and our entire profession are better because of people like him.

This is Archel's 2nd DAISY Award!
