As both her colleague and friend, I have had the privilege of witnessing the extraordinary dedication, compassion, and brilliance she brings to her role as the Wound Care Nurse. Dawn is the embodiment of someone who goes above and beyond. Her care for patients doesn’t stop at the bedside; she exhausts every possible resource to ensure they have what they need to succeed, even if that means reaching into her own pocket.

She invests her time, energy, and heart into crafting personalized care plans for each individual, drawing from research she tirelessly conducts both at work and during her personal time.

What makes Dawn truly exceptional is not just her clinical expertise but her dynamic personality and relentless drive. She proudly embraces what she calls “a touch of OCD, the A.D.Hs and Ds,” traits that fuel her attention to detail, problem-solving, and seemingly boundless energy. Her mind is always in motion, and that constant movement translates into innovation, adaptability, and a genuine desire to make things better for patients, coworkers, and the healthcare system as a whole.

She is not only a phenomenal nurse but also a natural teacher. I have learned so much from her, not just about wound care, but about leadership, integrity, and thinking outside the box.

Outside of work, she is a proud mother, grandmother, and the undisputed “camping queen,”  a reminder that her passion and strength extend well beyond her professional life.

In every way, Dawn is a force for good. Her tireless commitment, compassion, and character make her not only an outstanding nurse but an extraordinary human being. I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition.
