My husband was admitted to MICU from the ED with respiratory failure, hypoxia, and fluid in his lungs. He was discharged after receiving the absolute best care possible from all staff who participated in his care, and we met a truly extraordinary nurse named Kelley Gardner.

My husband is a disabled Vietnam veteran with many care needs. Kelley showed appreciation, respect, and understanding at all times. As his spouse, she treated me in the same way. She did everything she could to aid him in attaining his goals during hospitalization.

He had a nuclear stress test, which created stress and anxiety for him. At one point, when Kelley transported him back to the room, he commented, “Kelley stayed right with me and took such good care of me, and she would take up for me if she needed to do so.” He suffers from chronic PTD and anxiety, but Kelley was so understanding.

Kelley is a true asset in the continuity of care for Veterans treated at the Charles George VA Medical Center. Thank you to the VA for great care and thank you to Kelley for excellence in your nursing Care.
