It is with deep admiration and gratitude that I nominate Marian Arroyo and Vanessa Coronado for the DAISY Award. These two extraordinary labor and delivery nurses have consistently demonstrated compassion, dedication, and a commitment to excellence that goes far beyond their clinical responsibilities. Since January 2025, Marian and Vanessa have taken on the additional responsibility of facilitating maternity tours for expectant families—a task outside of their regular roles in our highly acute and fast-paced labor and delivery department. Despite the demands of their primary roles, they have graciously and consistently provided tours for approximately 40 families each month, reaching nearly 300–400 individuals. Their ability to create a warm, informative, and reassuring experience for these families has made a profound impact on our community. The feedback from our members has been overwhelmingly positive. Many have expressed how these tours helped ease their anxieties and made them feel truly cared for. In fact, the demand has grown so significantly that families are now requesting even more opportunities to connect with Marian and Vanessa. This speaks volumes about the quality of care and emotional support they provide. I want to personally thank Marian and Vanessa—not only for going above and beyond their duties as staff RNs, but for embodying the very essence of compassionate care. As Maya Angelou so beautifully said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Marian and Vanessa, you make people feel safe, seen, and supported. You are not only exceptional nurses, you are exceptional human beings.
